The Good the Bad and the Pissed Me Off

Work is utterly ruining my blogging lifestyle. Working nights is completely draining and such a buzz kill. I mean honestly I didn't even know about the Boston Marathon bombing until 2 days after it happened because my schedule consisted of work, sleep, repeat. So after a 50+ hour work week last week I was excited to the moon and back to escape with Derek and my mom and dad to Kansas City for a mini family getaway (minus Melis and Rebec) of baby cuddling and the NASCAR race.

I worked the night before and on the trip down south only got a few hours of sleep with all the excitement of hitting up the Kansas Speedway and scoring some free stuff. We arrived at the speedway around 2ish in the afternoon and parked in the free lot we through our purses in the back of the Envoy with our overnight bags and covered them with my big body pillow. When we walked up to the vendors we (Derek and I at least) were ridiculously bummed to find most of the free booths were shut down and closed up during the truck races that were going on. So, after stopping by the Chevy station and checking out the new line up of cars and getting a free T-shirt (the only free thing we could find aside from some weird tasting caffeine gum samples) we headed back to the car.

Upon arriving at the vehicle I noticed the very back side window was busted out. Immediately papa bear called the police while Derek, Mom, and I went all CSI on the Envoy. Reader's Digest version-- they stole my mom's silver Sak purse--but not mine, which was sitting directly beside my mom's. The only thing we could think of is that my big Sak purse with my wedding planning binder sticking out looked like a work bag rather than a purse (thank goodness for that :)). My mom's iPad was sitting in the sleeve behind the driver's seat untouched. Dad's GPS was still in the middle console and none of our bags were touched--not even our racing tickets were taken. So WTF right?!

Obviously whoever broke into our car just wanted cards and cash and after thinking long and hard about the scenario we remembered seeing two ladies sitting in a white car right next to ours as we were grabbing some money and hiding our purses. I remembered seeing a lady in the back seat with a hand out the window smoking a cigarette and another lady sitting in the front seat. They must have been watching and waiting and it makes me want to vomit (and then punch them square in the face).  So after an hour and a half of canceling credit cards (they had already used the one 3 times--all were denied but one of the charges had been for $350 at a Walgreens. What could you possibly want for that much at a flippin' Walgreens?!), talking to police and security personnel, and taping up our broken window we headed to the hotel (which was a total B-hole to find).

By the time we got there I was exhausted and wanted to freshen up my face, brush my teeth and get ready to eat some amaze-balls BBQ and cuddle with baby Benjamin when I realized those little B-holes stole my friggen makeup bag!!! Now I don't know about you but apparently I hold a LOT of stuff in my makeup bag. Toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, deodorant, a BRAND NEW JUST OPENED tube of tinted moisturizer (insert my extremely angry face here), as well as new eye liner, etc. etc. I mean--it cost $50 at Walmart just to get the basics that were in that bag to get me thru the night.

Anyway-- we had carry out from Oklahoma Joe's (which is FANTASTIC BBQ!), and got some great family time in with my little nephew (whom I'm falling in love with more and more every day) Saturday night. The race went fantastically and the men of the family had a great time (which fills my happy tank)! This left the week with more happy/enjoyable moments than sad/mad/vulnerable moments and yet I'm sitting here on a Thursday afternoon still reeling about the robbery.

I mean, I don't even know where to go with this story---it's all a bunch of ramblings from here on out but some people are seriously so unbelievably worthless and suck sooooo badly. If you think you need to take things from others, whether its things or money--GET A LIFE PEOPLE---and more importantly get a JOB instead of taking advantage of others who work their butts off for everything they have. What did we do to you? absolutely NOTHING but still you have cost us hundreds of dollars in window repairs, cash stolen, cards used/needing replaced etc etc.

Police called the other day to say they have used surveillance footage from the ATMs the thieves were at and have spotted the car at the casino near the speedway. So---with nothing more to do I'm sitting on the sofa crossing my fingers that those two klepto's get arrested and get what's coming to them.  I hope when karma catches up to those two broads she's raging witch!

Without further ado---the "Good" moments from our family getaway in Kansas City:

Cheeks

I have been trying to get my life and my brain to slow down long enough to sit and write another blog post for awhile and it has finally happened. I'm here and writing and though I have over a week and a half's worth of life happenings to catch you up on, I'd rather talk about the events of my last 24+ hours. Yesterday my older sister Melissa and I made a road trip down to Kansas City to meet our very first (official) nephew Ben! Now I have to say official because there are a few really good friends with little boys that call me Aunt Sarah and I love them dearly but this little one really is the real deal...

Hitting the road-bound for Kansas Citay!!
So Melissa and I hit the open road when she got off work and headed south on our 6 hour drive. It was all smooth sailing except for almost getting blocked in to our parking space at a gas station in Missouri and taking a few extra detours when stopping to eat in Liberty, MO and we arrived at our destination circa 9:30 pm which was almost perfect because apparently that's when Mr. Ben likes to come alive for the night!

This ADORABLE little baby is a perfect mix of his mom and dad and has the cutest squishiest cheeks I have ever seen with the longest gangly arms and legs that seem to go on and on for days and I am in love with every inch of him! Now, as most anybody who has known me for awhile knows, I have never been much of a kid person. Luckily for me, with growing older comes friends getting married and having babies which has allowed me to practice the art of babies (in small doses of course). So thanks to Cannon, Kolt, and Brooks I felt like a professional Aunt and didn't shy away when he cried or hiccuped, or crapped his pants. I cherished every cryin', fartin', belchin', hiccupin' minute of it...but boy could that kid crap his pants! Woo wee!!

Last night we got a taste for Ben's true belching abilities (and boy could he belch! He'll be belching the ABC's before we know it ;)), but this afternoon Aunt Melissa got a taste of his pooping abilities! It was just after she finished feeding him a bottle, she was holding him in front of her on her legs talking to him while he showed off his guns and "mean face" when all of a sudden she heard and FELT the rumble of thunder on her lap. She started laughing as she told us about it until she lifted him up and noticed his explosion must have slid up his back, thru his shirt, and all the way through Aunt M's pants too!! Alyson and I lost it even though Melissa didn't find it quite as funny and handed Baby B over to his mom quick, fast, and in a hurry!

Multi-talented: Showing off his guns while pooping his pants...and hers! You're my boy Ben!!
So, while she went and changed, Mom went and changed the lil pooper scooper and then Aunt Awesome (that's me) got her bonding time in with the little guy :) While Cheeks and I hung out we discovered he reached a "milestone" (according to his mom any way). As I was changing his diaper, I was rather disgusted to discover a little raisin in his diaper...but as I started harassing Alyson about eating raisins as she changes her son's poop diapers she pointed out that It was Cheeks' umbilical cord!! How amazing is that ?! I was there to witness his umbilical cord falling off!! Haha I know I know--it's not really that amazing at all but Alyson seemed to make a big deal out of it, and when the day comes that I miss him saying his first word or stepping his first step (which I guarantee I will), I can say -"oh yea? Well I was the one to found his umbilical cord when it fell off! So how about them apples?!"

Anyway--I can honestly speak for Melissa and I both when I say that our hearts were stolen by our squishy cheeked nephew Ben. We cherish every moment we had this weekend and miss him dearly already... So here are a few of my/our favorite pictures from our evening/afternoon with Cheeks ❤❤

Squishiest cheeks ever!
