This weekend my family and I got the great pleasure of celebrating my younger cousin Doug's wedding. Although it was a painfully long drive (I mean-its currently pretty painful seeing as how I'm still scrunched up in the back seat of my sister's car as I type ...thank God for smart phones and data coverage, amirite?) we had a fantastic time, and that's no lie!!
I started the day Friday by dropping off my little nugget at my friend's place to get loved up by their two little boys. Then we hit the road excited and with tons of energy for our long trip!
But it only took about 4 hours before our energy and excitement dwindled to pure car passenger exhaustion--
Luckily we made it too our halfway point where we grabbed a bite to eat, I thought I lost my cellphone but eventually found it (typical Sarah stuff), and met up with our parents and grandma E at a hotel for the night.
Day 2 of our journey started early when we hit the road and journeyed deep into Nebraska, gross right? The best way to pass the time on a 4 hour drive when NE offers spotty data service is to read a wedding book (while Derek read about quantum physics) and take a 2 hour nap ;)
Anyway-- we got to the hotel, got gussied up and headed to the chapel! Doug and the groomsmen looked very handsome while the bridesmaids, especially the bride looked gorgeous (per usual)! They said their "I do's" and we headed to the reception for great food, music, drinks, and family. Here's a recap of the nights events (with pictures)--
The dinner was tasty (steak tips on rice with corn), wedding toasts that were the perfect length--not too short, not too long-- with the perfect mix of sentimental as well as funny. This was followed by the traditional cake cutting, first dance, mother/ son and father/daughter dance of which I got no pictures of because I was busy manning my aunt's camera during those intimate moments. I did however, get a bunch of family pics, and one special little munchkin as she sampled all the mints in the little package on the table before putting them back in the box!
Was this a super exciting post? To an un-family member probably not...I just wanted to show you my pictures and brag that my family is incredible and as long as we are together we can have fun...even if it is on BFE Nebraska!!
Peace and Blessings ;)

LOVE! :o)
